Cardiac and metabolic blood tests are one of the cheapest and most informative ways to understand your cardiovascular risk. At The Cardiology Doctors we offer standard and advanced blood panels — from a simple cholesterol check to a full metabolic and cardiac risk profile — all interpreted by Dr Nabila Laskar in the context of your symptoms, family history and lifestyle. Bloods are drawn at our Marylebone clinic, processed by an accredited UK laboratory, and the results are sent to you with a clear consultant explanation.
We offer a full range of cardiac and metabolic blood panels. The core panel includes a full lipid profile (total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, triglycerides, non-HDL), HbA1c (3-month average blood sugar), kidney function (urea, creatinine, eGFR), liver function, thyroid function, full blood count and electrolytes. Advanced cardiac risk markers — including ApoB, Lp(a), high-sensitivity CRP, fasting insulin and NT-proBNP — can be added when clinically indicated. Bespoke panels are arranged for specific clinical questions.
Blood is drawn from a vein in the arm by an experienced practitioner. The procedure takes around 5 minutes. Samples are couriered to an accredited UK laboratory the same day. Routine results are usually back within 24–48 hours. Dr Laskar then reviews every result personally, contextualises them against your symptoms and risk factors, and sends you a clear written explanation rather than just a list of numbers.
Some blood tests, such as cholesterol and fasting glucose, are most accurate after a 12-hour overnight fast — we will tell you in advance if fasting is required. You may drink water as normal. The blood draw itself takes about 5 minutes. You can eat and resume normal activities immediately afterwards.

Most routine results are back within 24–48 hours. Specialist markers may take a few days longer. Dr Laskar reviews and explains every result personally rather than simply forwarding numbers.
For accurate cholesterol and fasting glucose results we recommend a 12-hour overnight fast. You may drink water as normal. We will confirm whether fasting is required when you book.
Lipid profile assesses cholesterol-related cardiovascular risk. HbA1c assesses 3-month average blood sugar control. Kidney and liver function check medication safety and overall metabolic health. Thyroid function checks for an underactive or overactive thyroid, which can affect heart rate and cholesterol. Advanced markers refine cardiovascular risk further.
